Who it’s for: Writers looking for objective feedback on a full draft, but not ready or not needing deep, collaborative editing. Perfect if you want to know whether your story holds together, what’s landing, and what to revise before investing in heavier edits.

Developmental Editing

What it is: A hands on, collaborative edit focused on shaping and strengthening your manuscript’s structure. We’ll work through story flow, character arcs, world-building, tension, and digging deep into the mechanics of your novel to support a stronger, more engaging draft.

Who it’s for: Writers who’ve completed a draft and are ready to revise with editorial guidance. If you want more than just feedback, looking for a detailed breakdown of how to improve and a partner to help map the path forward, this service is for you.

What you’ll receive:

  • A 6–10+ page editorial report covering:

    • Structure, plot development, and pacing

    • Character arcs and internal logic

    • Subplots, theme, and narrative cohesion

  • Chapter-by-chapter analysis

  • In-manuscript comments

  • 1 x revision once you have implemented changes

  • Optional extra - Copyediting services are available to all clients who go through developmental editing. This is charged at a separate rate and can be quoted if requested.

What it is: A focused review of your opening chapter, examining how effectively it introduces voice, character, tension, and narrative direction. This service looks at clarity, pacing, point of view, and the strength of the opening hook.

Who it’s for: Writers who are looking for an editor but would like a sample of editing before committing to a paid service. I offer this free of charge to see if we are a good fit.
